Session 24 – The Caravan to Baldur’s Gate (1/7/24)

Summary

The party began the **Caravan Arc**, embarking undercover on a ten-wagon trade convoy bound for **Baldur’s Gate**. Their mission: identify which merchants were secretly working with the **Cult of the Dragon** to transport stolen treasure, and trace the cult’s supply chain once they arrived.

The first rule of Wagon Train, however, is clear: *don’t talk about what’s in your wagons.* This operation would test the group’s stealth, charm, and improvisation.

Happenings of Note

• **Bechamel** and **Gootcha Zinnoa** were officially offered membership in **The Harpers**, following their stellar King’s Cup performance in Elturel. Both accepted.
• **Gootch’s family friend, Murray**, was discovered on Wagon 6, driven by **Longnose Lovius**. Their cargo: mysterious burlap sacks. Murray privately confessed to Gootch that he was affiliated with the Cult—but motivated more by greed than devotion to **Tiamat**. He also identified **Lena Widris** (Wagon 8) as another cult contact.
• **Lena Widris** appeared to be hauling crates and construction equipment, offering tools to others when a wagon broke down.
• Riding alongside Wagon 8 was **Azbara Jos**, a red-robed wizard with suspicious motives. Bechamel had previously purchased a spell scroll from him in **Elturel**, which appeared genuine—but the wizard radiated bad vibes.
• Gootch decided to lean into deception, positioning herself as a potential double (or possibly triple) agent.
• Meanwhile, **Bechamel** may or may not be speaking to birds. Whether the birds are responding remains unclear.

Several monster attacks occurred along the Trade Way, though the adventurers handled them with ease. Their competence, however, drew attention. Fellow travelers have begun to whisper and watch more closely. **Longnose Lovius** even warned them to mind their curiosity.

The group ended on the evening of **Day 3** of the **five-day journey**.
