He distinguishes his cold-attuned ice trolls sharply from the [[Scrag|Scrags]] — aquatic troll-kin who genuinely serve Arauthator as "true believers" — insisting the Scrags are no relation.

The party won Ralph over through diplomacy. Ralph, Gunner, and Blade agreed to join the assault on Arauthator in exchange for magic weapons (the party traded away a Corpseslayer Mace, a Dagger of Venom, and the Glimmering Moonbow — only "better than +1" weapons would do). Gunner and Blade had been guarding [[Maccath the Crimson]]'s study and let the party pass.
