His spirit resides in his tomb, which was built within the skull of the black dragon Nythrazhul.<br /> <br /> === Background ===<br /> Veylan Duskbane was a legendary hunter of evil dragons who slew Nythrazhul, the Plague of the Emerald Vale, over 700 years ago. He founded what would become the Talons of Veylan order of the Emerald Enclave. His tomb became a place of power where his spirit still lingers. When the red dragon Vaartox made the tomb his lair, Veylan&#039;s spirit was able to trap the dragon within using the tomb&#039;s residual magic.<br /> <br /> === Role in Campaign ===<br /> Veylan&#039;s spirit called out to [[Keyleth]] through her pixie swarm, summoning her to his tomb to help destroy Vaartox the Red. After the battle, he bestowed upon Keyleth the rank of Talon Initiate (2nd level in the Emerald Enclave) and gifted her his legendary sword Wyrmreaver along with other powerful items from his hoard.
