Draakhorn

The Draakhorn is an ancient and powerful artifact capable of sending a magical call to all chromatic dragons within a 1,500-mile radius—covering almost the entire Sword Coast.

Description

The Draakhorn is a legendary horn that, when sounded, sends a primal call that only dragons can hear. The effect is both a summons and a compulsion, drawing chromatic dragons toward the horn's location.

Properties

  • Range: Approximately 1,500 miles
  • Affects: All chromatic dragons (red, black, blue, green, white)
  • Effect: Audible only to dragons, acts as summons and warning
  • Current use: Being sounded continuously at the Well of Dragons

Campaign Events

In Session 40, Venomfang heard the Draakhorn's call while at the Temple of Lathander. The green dragon became agitated, hearing something none of the party could: a deep, primal horn pulling him southeast. He described it as both a summons and a warning.

In Session 41, Balderek explained that the Draakhorn's reach extends about 1,500 miles, meaning almost the entire Sword Coast is under its shadow. This may be how the cult has rallied so many dragons.

In Session 42, Lord Valtheran revealed under interrogation that the Draakhorn is located at the Well of Dragons, where cult leaders are sounding it around the clock to call dragons. Getting it there is why the cult has been quiet for months.

Strategic Importance

The Draakhorn represents one of the cult's most powerful tools for assembling a dragon army. As long as it continues sounding from the Well of Dragons, chromatic dragons will be drawn to join Tiamat's cause.
