The Harpers' Read
A mimic is an ambush wearing the shape of treasure. It sits as a chest, a door, a table — until something touches it, and then it sticks fast and bites with an acid maw. The surprise is the whole weapon; a mimic that has shown itself is merely a sticky brute. Test suspicious loot with a pole, not a hand, and beware the lonely chest in an empty room.
