The Harpers' Read
An umber hulk is a tunnelling nightmare with mandibles that crush stone and a confusing gaze that scrambles the mind — meet its eyes and you may strike a friend, wander off, or stand witless while it feeds. It burrows through solid rock, so no wall is a safe wall. Fight it with eyes averted, or in the dark where its gaze cannot catch you, and never assume a tunnel is sealed.
Encounters of Record
Two of them — Hugh M. Berr and Crush Limbough — fought the party as they carved a bypass beneath Garmok's Mine (46).
