The Goosebear

The Goosebear — also called "Old Goosebear" or "the Fury of the North" — is a legendary monster of the far north, a magical guardian beast said to have been created by a druid fusing a giant polar bear with a goose. The party learned of it in Session 47 from Halvard Greyskein, proprietor of the Gilded Albatross, an outfitter in Luskan.

Legend

According to Halvard, the Goosebear was "born of ancient druidic hubris" — the product of a druid's experiment that fused two creatures into one enormous chimera. Its signature is its honk: a magically charged cry that induces a bone-deep, supernatural fear, sending those who hear it fleeing in terror for miles. (The DM even played an audio honk at the table to demonstrate.)

Connection to the Draakhorn

The legend struck a chord with the party. Shade quietly raised the possibility that the dread "honking" attributed to the Goosebear might not be a beast at all — but the Draakhorn itself, the very artifact they are hunting: "It could be the horn." Whether the Fury of the North is a real creature, a folk-memory of the Draakhorn's call, or something else entirely remains an open thread.

The Expedition Offer

In Session 51, Halvard Greyskein — both while red-coin corrupted and again after his cure — offered to fund a party expedition to the Goosebear's treasure hoard in exchange for a cut of the proceeds. The offer is live and stands whenever the party wants to take it up.
