Provenance

Written on the trail north of Boareskyr Bridge and sent south with a returning drover, addressed to no one, folded the way things are folded when they are meant for the treeline north of Nuts Deep. A second letter travelled inside it.

Nettle,

Thank you for everything you've done for Talonfall and for the Talons of Veylan. You've carried more weight than most ever see, and you've done it without complaint. I'm grateful — truly — for your steady presence and for your dedication to our onerous calling.

I'm sending a message to King Melendrak about the Cult of the Dragon and the threat we're facing. If Immeril Stagwatch has any way of passing this along — through old elven contacts, forest messengers, or whatever channels he still keeps — I'd appreciate it.

I don't want to impose or pull him into anything dangerous. Just… if there's a quiet path to get this letter into the right hands, I trust you and Immeril to know it.
