Bechamel
Race: TBD (Player-Character, former player of Thurmin) Class: TBD Alignment: TBD (Player to define)
Description
Bechamel is a newcomer to the saga — an enigmatic figure drawn into the events that follow the restoration of the Forge of Spells and the whispers of dragons stirring across the Sword Coast. Whether pilgrim, scholar, or seeker, they carry an unshakable sense of foreboding from a dream that has haunted their waking moments ever since.
The Vision of Five Maidens
One night, while traveling the coastal cliffs, Bechamel experienced a dream — or perhaps a vision. In it, they walked along the shoreline where five maidens sat upon a great stone overlooking the waves. Each wore a gown of a different color: **red**, **black**, **white**, **green**, and **blue**. Their faces were turned away, watching the sea.
When Bechamel called out, they did not answer. Instead, the five turned their heads in unison — and though their mouths did not move, a voice echoed within Bechamel’s mind:
> “You are only a puppet.”
A thunderclap split the sky, and a gray mist consumed everything. From within the void, ten glowing embers emerged — eyes, burning orange and gold, slit like a dragon’s. They seemed to smile before Bechamel awoke.
Whether this was prophecy, warning, or madness, Bechamel has yet to determine. But its weight lingers. And its meaning draws them toward the town of Greenest, where rumors of dragon cult activity fester.
Personality
Bechamel is cautious but curious, drawn by strange dreams and a sense of destiny. They question the nature of fate, and their tone alternates between sardonic wit and quiet reverence. Despite their skepticism, a spark of conviction drives them forward — a need to understand what they saw and why it was shown to them.
Current Status
When the campaign opens, Bechamel is already in Greenest — either as a resident, traveler, or investigator. Their motivations are tied directly to the vision, but how they interpret it (as a curse, call, or challenge) remains their own secret.
<details><summary>🧩 DM Notes (Spoilers)</summary>
Truth: The five maidens represent the **five heads of Tiamat**, seen through a prophetic veil. The voice is one of her agents within the Cult of the Dragon, attempting to mark Bechamel as a vessel or pawn.
Foreshadowing:
- The dream’s “ten eyes” symbolize Tiamat’s return and the draconic cult’s awakening across Faerûn.
- Bechamel’s visions may intensify as the Rise of Tiamat campaign progresses, offering cryptic glimpses of cult movements or divine interference.
- The line “You are only a puppet” may allude to a deeper manipulation — either by the Cult, by Tiamat herself, or by opposing divine forces using Bechamel as an unwitting instrument.
