Foreman

The Foreman is a Svirfneblin (deep gnome) leader who oversees a community of deep gnomes living in the lower tunnels of Garmok's Mine. He is a cautious but practical leader who seeks to ensure the safety and prosperity of his people through strategic alliances and careful negotiation.

Appearance

The Foreman is a male Svirfneblin with the characteristic features of his race: short stature, gray skin, and a practical demeanor suited to life in the Underdark. He carries himself with the authority of one accustomed to managing complex operations in dangerous environments.

Background

The Foreman leads a community of Svirfneblin who have established themselves in the tunnels of Garmok's Mine. His people control a network of passages but face threats from hostile forces including Drow raiders and the territorial Myconids. The Foreman is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure that allows his community to survive, including the critical winch and lift systems that transport materials and personnel between levels.

When the winch system began mysteriously rusting and breaking down repeatedly—suggesting magical interference from a Rust Monster—the Foreman recognized that outside help would be needed to resolve the problem.

Quest Giver

The Foreman negotiated with the adventuring party known as Deez Nuts, offering them access to powerful mining equipment in exchange for repairing the broken winch system. After the party successfully completed the repair by defeating both a Rust Monster and a Mimic, the Foreman honored his agreement by presenting them with the legendary Mattock of the Titan, an ancient Svirfneblin artifact of incredible power.

He then directed the party to dig a new tunnel passage in the southern section of the mine that would bypass the hostile Myconid territory, creating a safer route through the mine for all who use it.

Active. The Foreman continues to lead his Svirfneblin community in Garmok's Mine, now with the benefit of the new tunnel route created by the adventuring party.
