Session 21 – The Depths of the Dragon Hatchery (10/8/23)

Summary
Continuing deeper into the **Cave of Dragon Eggs**, the party uncovered new secrets about the **Cult of the Dragon**’s operations. Within the depths of the hatchery, they discovered a makeshift study containing a desk with key intelligence:
- A map marked with several towns, including **Greenest**, all circled in red ink.
- An arrow traced along a trade route pointing toward the town of **Beregost**.
- A tattered **book of poetry**, its pages annotated with strange references to Tiamat and draconic rebirth.
While exploring, the adventurers faced off once again with **Langdedrosa Cyanwrath**, who demanded a rematch against **Xanphina**. Though the duel was fierce, the half-dragon fell once more—this time, for good. His defeat marked the end of a dangerous rival and earned the group both honor and treasure.
The heroes also encountered a **Roper**, a monstrous, tentacled cave-dweller with a taste for meat and a particular fondness for a drake named Sophie. Unfortunately for Sophie, she became dinner before the Roper could intervene. Distracted by its meal, the Roper let the party pass unmolested.
In the treasure chamber, they opened a trapped chest containing a cache of **precious gems and gold**, mundane yet highly valuable.
Finally, in the hatchery’s heart, the group found **three black dragon eggs**—each roughly 3 feet tall and weighing around 150 pounds. The eggs appeared close to hatching, likely within a week. Their fate remains undecided.
