The Harpers' Read
A stirge is a fist-sized horror that latches on and drains — once attached it hangs and sucks until gorged, then drops away fat. One is nothing; a cloud of them can bleed a strong body white in moments, and each one fastened is a knife you must pry loose. Swat them in the air before they land, and tear free any that fasten on.
