Dragon Turtle
| Harper Field Dossier | |
|---|---|
| Combat reference | |
| Type | Draconic sea-leviathan — a mountain of shell and spite beneath the waves |
| Vulnerabilities | None discovered; but its kinship with dragons is itself a weakness — weapons forged to slay dragons bite it all the same, and a caster who can change the very nature of their flame sidesteps its fire-proof hide |
| Resistances | Shrugs off fire and scalding heat |
| Immunities | |
| Condition Immunities | |
| Strong Saves | Iron-bodied and strong of will; its hide and endurance rarely fail it. Slower of reflex and wit |
| Senses | |
| Movement | Swims with terrible speed and will hunt a ship across open water; can haul its bulk onto ice to press an attack |
| Notable Abilities | A breath of boiling steam that scalds like dragonfire across a wide front; jaws and a battering tail with long reach, able to stave in a hull or shatter a wall of ice |

The Harpers' Read
Do not mistake the dragon turtle for a beast of the deep — it is a true dragon in all but name, and that is the key to killing it. Common fire is wasted breath; it bathes in heat and answers with a cone of boiling steam that will scald a whole deck at once. Fight it as you would a wyrm: bring weapons enchanted against dragons, for they wound it as readily as any drake, and lean on a caster who can recolour their magic into frost, lightning, or poison to slip past its fire-proof shell. It is iron-bodied and stubborn of will, so do not waste effort trying to charm or terrify it; aim instead for the slower reflexes and duller mind beneath all that armour. If you can lure it onto the ice and out of its element, do so — a beached leviathan is a slower one.
Encounters of Record
- Session 50 — A dragon turtle stalked Deez Nuts' longship through the Sea of Moving Ice, heralded by churning water and a sailor's dread. The company beached on a glacier and fought it there; an Arrow of Dragon Slaying and a sneak-struck Shadowfell crossbow bolt brought it down.
Harvest Profile
