Jamna Gleamsilver is a female gnome and a member of the Zhentarim, also known as the Black Network. She is a skilled spy, thief, and infiltrator who operates with cold pragmatism in service of her organization's goals.
Background
Jamna Gleamsilver is the antithesis of a hero—she is self-serving, a skilled thief and liar, and willing to murder anyone who stands between her and her goal. However, her skills and determination make her a valuable operative for the Zhentarim.
Despite the vast gulf between their outlooks, the Zhentarim and the Harpers have a common enemy in the Cult of the Dragon, and that is pushing them into an unlikely alliance. Jamna represents this uneasy cooperation, working alongside heroes while maintaining her own ruthless methods.
Role in Campaign
The party first met Jamna on the caravan from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep. She joined the caravan to find out what they were hauling and where it was headed.
Those above her seriously considered wiping out the caravan with mercenaries disguised as bandits, ransacking the wagons, and torturing cult members for the desired information. Fortunately for the characters, Jamna persuaded her superiors to give her a shot at uncovering the truth in a less bloody fashion. If she hadn't come up with something useful by the time the caravan reached Waterdeep, she would have put plan B—the one involving mass murder—into action.
