Reidoth, Druid of Thundertree and Guardian of the Wilds

Reidoth is a reclusive human druid residing in the ruined village of Thundertree. Known for his deep connection to the balance of nature and his pragmatic outlook, Reidoth keeps watch over the region’s natural order — and any threats that disturb it. He is respected, if not entirely understood, by those few who know of him.

Background

A member of the Emerald Enclave, Reidoth has spent decades monitoring the forests and ruins around Neverwinter Wood and the Sword Mountains. His self-imposed exile in Thundertree began after the eruption of Mount Hotenow, when corruption and strange creatures began to seep into the land.

In Session 03 – Welcome to Phandalin, Qelline Alderleaf recommended the adventurers seek Reidoth’s counsel if they wished to understand magical disturbances in the region. He is said to know much about lost ruins, draconic sightings, and the ebb and flow of the Weave through the wilds.

Relationships

Current Status

Alive and dwelling in the overgrown ruins of Thundertree, where he seeks to contain the blight spreading through the wilds and to guard against rising draconic influence.

Appearances

Truth: Reidoth is indeed a ranking agent of the Emerald Enclave, tasked with watching over the Thundertree area due to reports of dragon activity. He is aware of the green dragon Venomfang nesting nearby and is considering calling upon the Enclave for reinforcements.

Foreshadowing:

  • Reidoth’s awareness of dragon activity ties directly into the early threads of the Cult of the Dragon and foreshadows their growing boldness in Rise of Tiamat.
  • His knowledge of ancient ruins and the corruption of Thundertree can link the party to Enclave agents later encountered in Waterdeep.
  • Should the party ally with him, Reidoth could act as a mentor to Karma or Keyleth, deepening the Enclave’s role in the overarching campaign.
