Verithrax is an adult bronze dragon encountered by the party sunbathing on an iceberg in the Sea of Moving Ice.
Background
Verithrax is a metallic dragon who normally flies high above the Sea of Moving Ice. He is familiar with the region's inhabitants and dangers, including Arauthator (whom he fears) and Iskralathrax (whom he considers a bane). He is friends with Mick, a marid who patrols the same waters. He knows of Maccath the Crimson and her dragon research.
Personality
Verithrax is cautious but noble. He was genuinely impressed when the party showed him trophies from their dragon-slaying exploits — Vaartox the Red's scales and Iskralathrax's staff — revising his estimate of their chances upward ("maybe you do stand a chance") on learning they had killed a dragon that had been a bane in his side for decades. He agreed to help guide the party but refused to approach Arauthator's territory, stating he is "terrified of the old guy." In human form, he is described as very attractive, causing several party members to swoon.
Motivation
Verithrax does not join the fight for the party's sake alone. He agreed to help once he understood the stakes: the Draakhorn, sounded in service of Tiamat, endangers all dragonkind — and one of his own copper dragon friends had already been corrupted by its call, drawn toward Tiamat. Stopping the horn is, for him, a personal matter.
