Karma

Tabaxi Druid (Circle of the Moon)

A Tabaxi druid who joined the party during their journey to the Hill of Lost Souls. She bears an aura of protection and balance recognized by the Emerald Enclave.

Personality

Skilled in herbalism and alchemy, Karma is attuned to nature and the natural balance. She is capable of wild shape transformations including a formidable polar bear form. In a fight she favors a hulking wild shape the table affectionately calls "Big Karma" — and has been known, when a battle gets boring, to file her claws with a nail file or strut about with her tail in the air mid-combat. Her menagerie of forms includes a "war ostrich" she debuted in Session 44 ("Look at this ugly bitch") — a beloved recurring shape that "casts with its little tiny arms" — and, by the voyage home, a killer whale.

  • Used herbalism and alchemy kits to harvest Verdant Core and spore shade caps from defeated creatures in Session 38
  • Can create potions of growth and faerie fire bombs from harvested materials
  • Revived Alexios after he was killed by dragon fire, during which he experienced a vision from Athena
  • Promoted to Rivercaller (Scales of Eldath, Rank 2) in Session 43, gaining Eldath Sanctuary (suppress an ally's condition as a reaction) and a shapeshifting mood amulet that takes the form of whatever creature matches her current mood.
  • In Session 44, harvested the scales of the slain black dragon Voaraghamanthar to craft acid-resistant enchanted scale mail — using the Eldath/Enclave power to pacify the dragon mid-fight while the party recovered.
  • Died and was revived in Session 45: the mythic Mind Gobbler's Psionic Reversal bounced her own Blight back onto her, killing her outright; Shade's Healing Word brought her back at 9 HP.
  • In the Session 49 battle she was the party's only source of resurrection magic — her Revivify on Alexios briefly held the death-spiral at bay, and once she herself fell the total party kill became unrecoverable.
  • Was the only party member who chose not to be rebuilt when the company was reforged in the Hells. From signing the Compact in Session 50 she received the Antler Crown pact item (Entangle / Heat Metal / Conjure Animals — notably wearable even in her non-tiny wild-shape forms) and the universal Tempered Soul feat.
  • In Session 51 she was Luskan's industrial cure: her Heat Metal cracked the melt formula at the Half Moon Street forge and her Flaming Sphere ran every coin melt of the crisis — four molds at a time through ~3,500 street coins, and the final 2,400 inside the Host Tower of the Arcane vault that broke the curse city-wide.

Familiar: Charlotte

Karma keeps a spider familiar named Charlotte, a recurring telepathic scout she dispatches ahead of the party. In Session 42 - Bagpipes, Blood, and the Bronze Blades she sent Charlotte creeping through Lord Valtheran's manor grounds to reconnoiter, relaying what the spider saw back through their telepathic bond. (She also conjures lesser scouts as needed — a bat familiar in S44 met a swift end at the hands of pebble-throwing kobolds: "We will avenge you.") In Session 51 her bat familiar Batty was swatted out of the air and killed by the Superior Stables proprietress's horsewhip — the session's sole casualty — after which Karma summoned a tiny spider familiar that scouted the school and located Master Vance's coin collection where a cat could not go.
