Glasstaff
Glasstaff
Glasstaff, whose real name was Iarno Albrek, was a human wizard and the leader of the Redbrands, a gang of thugs that terrorized Phandalin. Once a member of the Lords' Alliance and a companion of Sildar Hallwinter, Iarno turned to crime and became an agent of Nezznar the Black Spider.
Background
Iarno Albrek was originally sent to Phandalin by the Lords' Alliance to establish order and protect the town as it grew. However, he was corrupted by his ambition and lust for power. He formed the Redbrands and used them as his personal gang, extorting the citizens of Phandalin and serving as Nezznar's eyes and ears in the town.
The name "Glasstaff" came from his signature weapon – a magical staff of defense made of glass.
Description
Iarno was a skilled wizard who relied on both magic and his Redbrand thugs to maintain control. He was ambitious, cowardly when cornered, and willing to betray his former friends and allies for personal gain.
Abilities and Equipment:
- Glass Staff of Defense – His signature magical weapon
- Wizard spells for combat and utility
- Command over the Redbrand gang
Leadership of the Redbrands
As Glasstaff, Iarno transformed the Redbrands from common thugs into an organized criminal gang. He established their base in the Tresendar Manor beneath Phandalin and used intimidation and violence to control the town. The Redbrands kidnapped citizens, extorted money from businesses, and assaulted those who resisted.
