Marfulb is a giant ice toad scholar dwelling in the caverns of Oyaviggaton, whom Deez Nuts befriended in Session 48. (Name heard in play as "Marfulb"/"Marfold"; "Marfulb" is canonical.)
Description
A large, intelligent ice toad who keeps a desk buried under mountains of paperwork — a researcher documenting the lands north of the Spine of the World: the Sea of Moving Ice, the Ice Hunter culture, the Ten Towns, and the region's trolls. Her work is the kind of knowledge the Arcane Brotherhood and Strixhaven Academy would prize.
Role in Campaign
The ice toads are ancestral inhabitants of these caverns, kept in line by Arauthator's fear rather than loyalty. When the party approached in Draconic (and via Shade's Comprehend Languages), Marfulb and her people agreed to guide them through the upper tunnels rather than fight — wanting the dragon truly dead, not merely driven off (Session 48).
After Deez Nuts killed Arauthator, Marfulb emerged from the lair and entrusted the party with her life's work — a body of research — to be carried back and published through the Arcane Brotherhood at Luskan, alongside the freed researcher Maccath the Crimson (Session 50).
