Oyaviggaton
Oyaviggaton is a massive iceberg in the Sea of Moving Ice that serves as the lair of Arauthator, the ancient white dragon known as "Old White Death."
Overview
Oyaviggaton rises hundreds of feet out of the water, significantly taller than any other iceberg in the region. It features a broad plateau with two rising peaks of ice several hundred feet high, connected by a depression between them. The iceberg is large enough to support an entire ice hunter village on its plateau, complete with huts, shelters, sled dogs, and a population of approximately 55 people including children.
Notable Features
- Ice Shelf - A flat section near water level where fishing boats and kayaks are pulled up (12-15 boats observed)
- Carved Staircase - Ancient ice stairs leading from the shelf to the plateau, about 20 feet wide at the base, narrowing as they ascend over 100 feet
- Ice Ridges - Natural formations 10-15 feet high containing frozen bodies of past victims (warriors from Luskan, a dwarf, and 6 ice hunters)
- Ice Hunter Village - Small huts and shelters built into a village, home to ~55 people led by Barking Seal
- Bone Carver's Hut - Contains a secret back entrance to Arauthator's underground caverns
- Main Entrance - A front entrance that the dragon expects intruders to use
- Whale and Seal Bone Piles - Heaps of bones on the far side of the ice shelf, mixed with dragon bones the villagers falsely claim are Arauthator's
- Unnatural Wind - A regional lair effect causing persistent headwinds blowing away from the iceberg
