Oyaviggaton
Oyaviggaton is a massive iceberg in the Sea of Moving Ice that served as the lair of Arauthator, the ancient white dragon known as "Old White Death," until his death in Session 50.
Overview
Oyaviggaton rises hundreds of feet out of the water, significantly taller than any other iceberg in the region. It features a broad plateau with two rising peaks of ice several hundred feet high, connected by a depression between them. The iceberg is large enough to support an entire ice hunter village on its plateau, complete with huts, shelters, sled dogs, and a population of approximately 55 people including children.
Notable Features
- Ice Shelf - A flat section near water level where fishing boats and kayaks are pulled up (12-15 boats observed)
- Carved Staircase - Ancient ice stairs leading from the shelf to the plateau, about 20 feet wide at the base, narrowing as they ascend over 100 feet
- Ice Ridges - Natural formations 10-15 feet high containing frozen bodies of past victims (warriors from Luskan, a dwarf, and 6 ice hunters)
- Ice Hunter Village - Small huts and shelters built into a village, home to ~55 people led by Barking Seal
- Bone Carver's Hut - Contains a secret back entrance to Arauthator's underground caverns
- Main Entrance - A front entrance that the dragon expected intruders to use
- The Dragon's Hoard - Frozen into the ice of Arauthator's chambers; thousands of coins, gems, art objects, and magic items, which took the party a full day to excavate after his death
- Trophy Hall - A chamber of the dragon's prizes yielding further treasure
- Whale and Seal Bone Piles - Heaps of bones on the far side of the ice shelf, mixed with dragon bones the villagers falsely claimed were Arauthator's
- Unnatural Wind - A regional lair effect causing persistent headwinds blowing away from the iceberg
Notable NPCs
- Arauthator - The ancient white dragon who lairved here, now slain
- Barking Seal - Chieftain of the ice hunter clan
- Bone Carver - Shaman and healer of the clan
- Orca Heart - Champion warrior of the clan
- Maccath the Crimson - Arcane Brotherhood researcher, freed from the lair
Quests & Events
- Session 47 - The Sea of Moving Ice - The party arrived at Oyaviggaton, confronted the ice hunter village, won a combat challenge, and discovered the secret entrance
- Session 48 - Inside Oyaviggaton (2026.04.12) - The party explored the interior caverns, found Maccath imprisoned, and gathered cold-warding gear
- Session 49 - Old White Death (2026-04-26) - The party fought Arauthator here and was wiped out
- Session 50 - Reforged in Hell, the Voyage Home (2026-06-14) - The reforged party killed Arauthator, harvested his corpse, and looted his hoard
Current Status
With Arauthator dead, his hoard plundered and his corpse harvested, Oyaviggaton no longer holds a dragon's terror. The ice hunter clan, freed from generations of servitude, turned on the party after learning Deez Nuts had killed their missing kin, and prepared to abandon the iceberg to seek the rest of their people on the eastern glacier mainland.
