Governor Nighthill

    • Governor Tarbaw Nighthill** is the civic leader and de facto ruler of Greenest, a pragmatic and compassionate administrator known for his calm under pressure and commitment to his people. A former merchant-turned-politician, Nighthill is credited with transforming Greenest from a sleepy trade post into a thriving agricultural hub — and later, with holding it together through the catastrophic Siege of Greenest.

Background

Originally from Elturel, Nighthill settled in Greenest decades ago after the death of his wife, seeking a quieter life. His natural leadership quickly made him a pillar of the community, and he was eventually chosen to serve as governor. Under his guidance, Greenest prospered and became a model of small-town civility and security.

When the Cult of the Dragon attacked, Nighthill refused to flee. From within The Keep (Greenest), he coordinated the defense of the town alongside his trusted dwarven captain, Escobert the Red, and relied heavily on the adventurers who arrived in the midst of the chaos. His steady leadership and focus on civilian protection likely saved hundreds of lives.

Relationships

  • **Escobert the Red** – Loyal right-hand and commander of the Keep’s guard; their friendship spans decades.
  • **Leosin Erlanthar** – Trusted acquaintance who occasionally shares intelligence about cult activity.
  • **Frulam Mondath** – The cult leader responsible for the attack on his town; Nighthill has vowed to see her brought to justice.
  • **Order of the Gauntlet** – Though not a member, he supports their goals and coordinates relief efforts with them.

Current Status

As of the last report, Nighthill is leading Greenest’s reconstruction efforts and establishing new trade and defense networks with neighboring towns. His growing correspondence with the factions of the Sword Coast hints that Greenest may soon become a rallying point in the struggle against Tiamat.

Truth: Nighthill’s loyalty to the Order of the Gauntlet stems from his service as a quartermaster during the Dragonspear Wars. His correspondence with Elturel’s leaders may later serve as a means to bring the Gauntlet formally into the alliance against Tiamat.

Foreshadowing: He may be targeted by cult assassins or spies in future sessions, particularly if Greenest becomes a staging ground for faction unity.
