Session 03 – Welcome to Phandalin

Summary
After rescuing Sildar Hallwinter and completing their escort mission, the adventurers reached the frontier town of Phandalin. With their wagon and wounded companion in tow, they began to explore the settlement and uncover its troubles.
At the town gates, they met Therezal, a bored half-orc tour guide who decided to follow the party out of curiosity. His commentary soon became part of the ongoing chaos.
In town, the party learned the following:
- Phandalin is being terrorized by a gang known as the Redbrands (or “Rembrandts,” depending on who’s talking).
- The legendary Wave Echo Cave is rumored to lie near Phandalin, and Gundren Rockseeker may have been taken—with his map—to Cragmaw Castle.
- Sildar Hallwinter revealed that he is a member of the Order of the Gauntlet and came to investigate the disappearance of his friend, a local wizard. Seeing the state of the town, he offered the party 500 gp to eliminate the Redbrands and/or find Cragmaw Castle.
- The Redbrand hideout is believed to be in the ruins of Tresendar Manor.
- Carp Alderleaf, a local child, told the group about a secret tunnel (🎵Secret Tunnel!🎵) leading to the manor.
- Qelline Alderleaf suggested they visit Reidoth in Thundertree for magical guidance.
- Daran Edermath, a semi-retired Gauntlet member, requested the party investigate an occurrence at Old Owl Well for 100 gp.
- Halia Thornton, a shrewd guild leader, confirmed that the Redbrand leader is called Glasstaff and offered 100 gp for his death.
- Sister Garaele, elven caretaker of the Shrine of Luck, asked the group to consult a banshee named Agatha about the lost wizard Bowgentle, providing a silver comb as an offering.
- The Townmaster’s Hall posted a 100 gp bounty for clearing Wyvern Tor of orcs.
The party capped off their town tour with a chaotic bar fight at the Sleeping Giant Tavern, killing five Redbrands after a clumsy brawl.
